The Virginia Alliance for Secure Computing and Networking (VASCAN) exists for the purpose of strengthening information technology security programs within the Commonwealth of Virginia.


Services — Training Opportunities:

VASCAN offers several forms of training services. These materials and services were prepared by experienced security practitioners from George Mason University, James Madison University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Virginia Commonwealth University, and may be used by others to conduct user and technical training in their own organizations.

Instructional Materials

VASCAN offers downloadable instructional materials in the form of PowerPoint presentations, white papers, and articles. These are grouped according to the categories listed below. Click on the category of interest to view materials currently available.

On-site Training

Virginia higher education institutions may request on-site training services in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:

  • security awareness
  • risk management
  • disaster recovery
  • network security
  • authentication methods
  • server and desktop security
  • incident response
  • computer forensics

Access to these services is currently limited to Virginia higher education institutions and K-12 school systems. Request on-site training services.

Conferences & Workshops

VASCAN periodically holds meeting and workshops for its client base and co-sponsors or otherwise supports similar events held by other organizations. See the VASCAN news page for a current list of events.
