The Virginia Alliance for Secure Computing and Networking (VASCAN) exists for the purpose of strengthening information technology security programs within the Commonwealth of Virginia.


Services — Consulting Options:

Virginia higher education institutions may request on-site consulting services in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: security policy development, user and technical education, risk management, disaster recovery, network security, authentication methods, server and desktop security, and incident response.

These services are provided on an "as available" basis by experienced security practitioners from George Mason University, James Madison University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University, using knowledge, tools and best practices they have effectively employed at their own institutions. Request on-site consulting services. .

Ask the Security Expert

Individuals from Virginia higher education institutions may submit questions on any security topic to the "Ask the Expert" email service. These questions are forwarded to experienced security practitioners at GMU, JMU, UVa, Virginia Tech and VCU. Responses are prepared as quickly as possible during normal business hours (this is not a 24/7 service) and provided back as quickly as possible. Utilize the "Ask the Expert" service.

Ask the IT Auditor

Individuals from Virginia higher education institutions may submit questions on any auditing topic to the "Ask the Expert" email service. These questions are forwarded to experienced security practitioners at GMU, JMU, UVa, Virginia Tech and VCU. Responses are prepared as quickly as possible during normal business hours (this is not a 24/7 service) and provided back as quickly as possible. Utilize the "Ask the Expert" service on IT auditing.
